Summary of Job:
|
To be involved in the maintenance
and development of a broad range of Orchid Cellmark in house IT
systems through the writing of bespoke code and the configuration
of COTS systems (Microsoft Dynamics)
|

Reporting Relationship:

Reporting to the Systems
Architect

Principal Accountabilities:
|
- Under guidance working with other developers on the development
and maintenance of nominated Orchid Cellmark legacy systems, including
software developments as required.
- To be involved in the implementation and development of COTS
systems (Microsoft Dynamics) to the organisation, particularly
gathering user requirements and configuring the system integrate
these requirements.
- Working in multidisciplinary teams to provide development support
using Microsoft and Java technologies
- To manage and participate in projects ensuring their timely
and accurate completion
- Provision of ad hoc analysis and programming support and activities
across the organisation as required

Job Requirements:
|
Education:
- Educated to at least, first degree level (1st or 2i), (preferably
Masters) in an IT related subject.
Experience:
- Opportunity suitable for recent graduate
- Knowledge of, implementation and customisation of COTS
- Some experience of using Microsoft and Java technologies.
- Exposure to project management
- Exposure to project methodologies and Object Oriented programming
- Have completed an undergraduate or Masters project with a software
deliverable
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of the principles of Object Oriented programming
- Experience in the use of some or all of:
- Visual Basic 6.0,
- .Net
- SQL Server
- Java
- Oracle
- XML
- PC packages (MS Project, MS Office)
Non-Technical Skills:
- Ability to work well as an active member of teams
- Flexible and highly self motivated with can do attitude
- Helpful customer service attitude
- Willingness and Ability to quickly pick up a wide range of new
skills and knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines
- Well organised with high personal standards and great attention
to detail

Physical Demands:

- Requirement for good close vision – majority of time spent
working on computer screen

Working Conditions:

- Desk based within the IT department, in a shared office
- Occasional requirement for unsocial out of hours working
