Scientist : Analyst Developer
Orchid Cellmark has grown to become one of the UK’s largest
forensic companies. Known for the quality of our work, we are looking
for an Analyst Developer to join us on a 12 month contract.
You will be involved in the maintenance and development of a broad
range of Orchid Cellmark in house IT systems through the writing
of bespoke code and the configuration of COTS systems.
- Both working autonomously and with small teams.
- Involved in the development and maintenance of nominated
Orchid Cellmark bespoke scientific systems software using Microsoft
and Java Technologies.
- Managing and participating in projects ensuring their timely
and accurate completion
- Provision of ad hoc analysis and programming support and
activities across the organisation as required
- To provide problem solving and support for key production
systems software.
- Working closely with scientific staff to ensure that software
user requirements are clearly understood.
You will have preferably been educated to at least first degree
level (1st or 2i) in an IT or science related subject. You will
ideally have knowledge of the implementation and customisation of
COTS. Have experience of using Microsoft and Java technologies to
develop software for use in a production environment, you will also
have gained some exposure to project management, project methodologies
and Object Orientated programming.
Suitable applicants will have some or all of the following technical
skills. - Knowledge of the principles of Object Oriented Programming
- Visual Basic 6.0,
- .Net
- SQL Server
- Java
- Oracle
- XML
- C packages (MS Project, MS Office)
