Scientist : DNA
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled forensic scientist
with a solid background in DNA forensics and an in depth knowledge
of NDNAD operations.
You will take responsibility for reporting a broad range of DNA
cases from simple source to complex mixture interpretation, you
will have an in depth knowledge of a range of Forensic DNA STR profiling
techniques and associated statistical evaluation.
You will be an expert in your field and have credibility for the
quality of your work and the high level of professionalism and customer
service that you offer.
Your written/verbal communication and presentation skills will
be exemplary in order to provide testimony for cases reported as
well as presenting expert evidence in court. These skills will also
be required when liaising with Police Officers, the NDNAD and other
forensic authorities regarding requests for statements, comparisons
and simple speculative searches.
You will update tracking systems designed to monitor statement
requests, enquiries and charges and will have involvement in project
work and case reviews from time to time.
Ideal candidates will be proficient in the operation of Forensic
DNA software (Genemapper) and experience of Genescan. Genotyper
and MAC data analysis would also be an advantage. As well as a good
level of skills with word processing, spreadsheets and database
packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and other applications.
This is a key role that will suit an individual who is highly ethically
motivated, who has meticulous attention to detail and accurate record
keeping, coupled with the ability to remain focused when dealing
with a significant amount of close vision VDU work.
